In the mid 1970’s Teddy and Arthur knew that the footwear industry was moving manufacturing out of the U.S. Their painted reptiles and exotic skins once reigned, but the fashion world was shifting…
In 1979 they left for Bangkok in search of inspiration…rather than batiks and other fabrics, they found big, water buffalo hides…they knew. They soon discovered a wide open world in interiors. Luxury leathers for interior designers & architects, with clients who simply wanted the best of the best.
This inspiration became what we know as Shrunken Buffalo. “It is the strongest, boldest leather in the world,” said Teddy when they re-launched the color collection in 1992.
Back in the early 80’s, the company, now geared for interiors, got underway with the “beast of burden” buffalos… did you know that Carlos Falchi made a buffalo bag out of our leathers? Now that screams luxurious!
